Current Run

Posted Friday, January 16, 2009 by Greg Diamond
After rolling off two consecutive wins against Herricks and Calhoun, Mepham has hit a dry spell, losing three straight.  The slide began last friday as Mepham lost a heartbreaker to rival Kennedy.  After being up almost the whole game the Pirates let up an eight point lead with a little over a minute left, and lost in OT.  Monday brought Syosset to Mephams gym but despite a game high 31 points by Andrew Kaminsky and a solid 18 points by Steve Luczaj, the Pirates would lose 79-73.  Finally, on Friday the Pirates sqaured off against 1st place Freeport.  Despite keeping it close for the first three quarters the Pirates couldnt close it out, being outscored 19-9 in the 4th quarter.  Andrew Kaminsky had 18 points and J.C Brandmier grabbed a season high 8 boards, but the Pirates fell 59-40.

The Pirates next game is on Friday 1/23 at McArthur.
